Brush seals
such as the metal channel strip brush have
been one of Precision Brush Company’s
main products sine 1951. There are an infinite
number of brush seal applications and Precision
Brush has made hundreds of thousands of brushes
that are used to seal weather, seal moisture,
seal sparks or sprays such as paint. Brushes
are also used to keep pests out of buildings
and to seal gaps in doorways. Other applications
include visual brush seals
used in product displays, organizing computer
cables, or to seal grommets in desks. Brush
seals have also been used to manage light
for photographic equipment or in dark rooms
to act as a light barrier.
Precision brush seals:

- Brush are used
to seal grommets in desks

Using the Precision
Brush design sheets, brush users can design
their own brush seals from
scratch or they can talk to an engineer
who will work with them to design custom
brush seal. Stock brush seals are also available
for immediate delivery.
Brush seals are available
with nylon or polypropylene filaments or
brush seals can be made with natural fibers
such and horsehair. The metal channel sizes
on the brush seals ranges
from a width of .100” to .437”
and each channel size has many aluminum
extruded holders available to make mounting
the brush seal easy and quick. The brush
seal holders can hold the seals perpendicular,
parallel or angular to allow for the maximum
amount of flexibility in brush seal design.
Because the brush
seal is flexible it conforms to any surface
to form an effective seal. This brush
seal flexibility also allows for
added durability and flexibility. The brush
seals conform around moving parts and provide
virtually no friction even after millions
of cycles. As a result, brush seals can
help to reduce utility costs by preventing
air infiltration. Brush seals also help
to maintain the appearance of buildings
by enhancing overhead doors and pedestrian
doorways. FDA approved filaments and stainless
steel metal channel are also available for
food grade applications and buildings.
