The Lead of an Open Wound Coil Brush is also referred to as "pitch". This dimension is what determines how much the brush is stretched to spread the loops of the brush. The definition of "lead" is sometimes confusing. It is not the space between the loops, but rather the space from the center of one loop to the center of the next loop. Depending on the brush it is sometimes easier to measure from the right side of one loop the right side of the next loop. It is also possible to measure the space between loops and add the width of one loop to determine the lead.
