Precision Brush - Outside Diamenter of Open Wound Coil Brush

The outside diameter, also referred to as the "OD" is measured from the tips of the brush filament on one side of the brush to the tips of the filaments on the other side.

If possible, the OD can be measured by adding the ID and the Overall Trim of the brush times two.

Most Open Wound coil brushes are used in a rotary fashion and the filament tips are what will do the brushing. In order to prolong the life of the brush it is best to make sure the filament tips are actually doing the brush work and not the sides of the filament.

Depending on the stiffness of the filament measuring exactly can be difficult. If you would like us to duplicate an existing brush it is often helpful for you to send us the brush to acquire the exact diameter.
