Have a unique idea for a brush? Let’s Talk.
Brushes are used all over the world (even in space) to make our lives easier, more fun, and more functional. As a custom brush manufacturer, our expert brush designers here at Precision Brush are on hand to brainstorm your wildest brush dreams with you and see what’s possible. Here are some of the most bizarre brush ideas we’ve seen come across our drafting tables:
The Doggie Car Wash
We once had someone come in with detailed schematics for an automated dog-washing system using brushes. A great deal of thought had gone into the details of the mechanics and all the moving parts, including the brush that would make contact with the dog.
The customer selected a very stiff filament, but it was intended to be on a rotating brush that would be spinning quickly to scrub the dog. We advised that this filament would be too aggressive, suggesting that a softer brush be used, but the inventor opted for the stiff brush.
Let’s just say that when we did receive the ultimately returned brush, it was jam-packed with dog hair!
The Pocket-Sized Automatic Carpet Brush
Another budding inventor we encountered had designed a small automatic device that could be deployed to remove crumbs or other tiny debris from a carpet. We created a brush to suit.
This was many years ago when smoking indoors was much more common. Back at home, the customer spilled an ashtray and promptly put the automatic carpet brush to work. It picked up the cigarette butts just fine, but unfortunately, it also smeared the ashes into the carpet leaving a huge smudge. Back to the drawing board!
The Fallen Grape Removal Brush
Someone once came to us requesting a brush for retrieving fallen grapes from under a refrigerator. The idea was that if you opened the fridge to eat a grape and it then fell, bounced off your toe, and rolled beneath the fridge out of reach, this long, thin brush would be able to slide underneath to grab it back. It wasn’t exactly a blockbuster hit, as you might imagine, but if you can imagine it, we can probably make it.
The Metal Channel Toothbrush
First off, toothbrushes are actually one kind of brush we do not manufacture. That said, we have had people come to us requesting metal-channel toothbrushes or even brushes with wire filaments. Ouch!
Not every idea turns out to be a homerun, but at Precision Brush, we love working with people to try out new brush concepts.
